Are your thoughts so consuming that you find yourself in a constant state of fear? Is your heart often racing, coupled with feeling like you can't breathe? If you've ever experienced self-doubt, difficulty focusing, or the feeling that your world is crashing down on you, you likely know how brutal anxiety can be. I have training in treatments such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Mindfulness which are helpful with combating anxiety and regaining control.
When a distressing event brings up a strong emotional response, this can be incredibly difficult. You might feel anxious, on edge, or disconnected from others. Trauma that is unprocessed can progress into Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Symptoms can include flashbacks, nightmares/sleep problems, a startled response, feeling numb, and avoidance of trauma-related places or people. As a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP), I recognize how significant our past experiences can be. When pain becomes chronic, it is easy to feel defeated. You might spend hours researching your symptoms or believe no one understands. It's natural to feel like giving up after endless attempts to improve things. Pain can influence our thoughts, emotions, and views on the world. It would be an honor to work with you and instill a sense of hope. I believe in helping my clients work with their pain, rather than against it. We will learn to manage our symptoms without being defined by them.
Depression can feel like ongoing sadness, exhaustion, or hopelessness. Maybe you're less social than normal or struggle to find joy in the things you used to love. If you notice changes in your sleep, eating habits, or motivation, please know that you are not alone. Many of us feel depressed due to circumstances, seasonal changes, or reasons that seem unexplainable. As your therapist, I can guide you in setting realistic goals toward feeling like yourself again.
